Design optimisation
This project focused on optimising existing design by a design institute. The updated design resulted in significant decreases in power consumption.
Design comparison
Process required condensation of 12 t/h of steam, condensing to a temperature of 35℃.
Design Institute Design; 2800㎡ condenser (heat exchange area 316L), specialist cooling tower with its own recirculating water supply requiring 3 water pumps each operating at 280 kw (overall power consumption 840 kw).
Optimised Design; Only requiring four recirculating water pumps operating at 15 kw each, overall power consumption 60 kw (removing the need for a recirculation water station).
The overall reduction in power consumption was a very successful 92.8%.
